Beanstats 2.12: Bean Freshness, Sweet Spot, and Water Calculator
Beanstats 2.12 is one of the bigger releases of the year. It turns roast date from a static field into a living timeline, learns when your beans peak based on how you’ve rated them, and adds enough plumbing for a Decent Scale and a water chemistry calculator on the side.
What’s New
Bean Freshness Tracker
Every active bean now gets a lifecycle timeline bar that visualises where it sits in the roast window: degas, peak, decline. Tiers adjust based on roast level, because a light filter roast does not peak on the same schedule as a darker espresso roast.
Personal Sweet Spot (Premium)
The app analyses your rated brews per bean and tells you which days post-roast tend to land your highest scores. Per-bean, per-you, and the kind of pattern that’s nearly impossible to spot manually.
Freshness Stats
A new stats panel summarises what percentage of your brewing happens in each freshness phase, plus how much of it lands in peak. Useful for spotting whether you’re consistently brewing too early or letting bags drift too long.
LSI Water Calculator
Enter your water profile and Beanstats now estimates its Langelier Saturation Index, a rough read on whether the water is likely to scale your boiler or corrode it. Sits next to the existing water profile tools.
Decent Scale support (Beta)
Decent Scale and Half Decent are now supported for weight, timer, tare, and battery. Pair them under Settings > Scales like any other scale.
Similar Beans
A small but handy addition: from any bean detail, you can now find beans in your library with matching varieties.
Interactive Quick Log widget
The Quick Log widget gained dedicated Espresso and Filter buttons, so you can start the right kind of brew with a single tap from the Home Screen.
