Brew Readiness, Freezer Clocks, and a Freshness Widget
Beanstats 2.18.0 makes it easier to see when your coffee is ready to brew, with a clearer readiness card and freshness estimates that account for time in the freezer.
What’s New
Brew readiness at a glance
The Brew Readiness card now shows a compact row for each brewing method, with a phase badge, days remaining, and a timeline marking where your beans are today. Resting, Peak, Good, and Fading each have their own color, with descriptions such as “Peaking in ~N days” or “N days of peak left.”
Tap the info button for the exact day ranges for each method, including adjustments for a roaster’s recommended rest days.
Freezer time done right
Freshness calculations now pause while beans are frozen. Overlapping freeze periods count only once, and fully thawed entries retain their freezer history. The readiness card explains when the clock is paused and how much coffee is still frozen.
You can also edit freeze entries from the bean detail using a swipe or context menu. Changing the weight preserves the entry’s thaw history.
Bean Freshness widget
A new small Home Screen and Lock Screen widget shows a bean’s freshness phase, day count, readiness, and remaining weight. Choose a specific bean or let it follow the freshest one automatically. Tap it to start a brew with that bean selected.
More ways to use Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight
Beans and brews now appear in Spotlight search, with results opening their detail screens. Three new shortcuts let you check today’s caffeine, rate your last brew, or repeat your last brew in a prefilled form.
Filter and batch brew at cafes
Cafe brews now include Filter and Batch Brew styles, with caffeine estimates suited to drip coffee.
Fixes & Improvements
- Timemore Dot and older Blackmirror scales can now start the app timer automatically when flow is detected. Stopping a brew correctly captures its water weight and chart
- Widgets open their relevant screens, Last Brew’s elapsed time updates live, and caffeine and freeze widgets respect their feature toggles
- Peak freshness notifications account for freezer time and your default brewing style, and reschedule when relevant bean or freeze details change
- Sweet Spot analysis (Premium) uses freeze-adjusted days, respects roaster rest recommendations, and handles differences in capitalization, accents, and flag emoji when matching origins and varieties
- Freshness statistics use the same calculations as the readiness card, including the Fading phase. Phase counts and peak-freshness percentages may change from 2.17.0
- The keyboard accessory bar appears more reliably when moving between fields, and bean details scroll more smoothly with large brew and photo collections
- Fixed caffeine totals doubling with Apple Health sync enabled, Shortcuts rating the wrong brew through an old identifier, and partially thawed bags remaining on Day 0
- Beanconqueror imports preserve thaw dates, and unknown cafe styles in backups import as Other
Happy brewing!
