Ambient Background

Toggle the subtle gradient background on detail views. When enabled, the background color is extracted from hero images for a cohesive look.

Measurement Units

Choose between metric and imperial units:

SystemWeightTemperature
Metricgrams (g), kilograms (kg)Celsius (°C)
Imperialounces (oz), pounds (lb)Fahrenheit (°F)

This affects all weight displays throughout the app.

Brewing Default

Choose Filter or Espresso as the default for new brews. This also selects the freshness window used by bean cards, list rows, and peak freshness alerts.

Brew Form

Configure which fields and helpers appear in the brew form.

Numeric Grind Keyboard

Uses a number pad for grind size by default. Turn it off if you prefer descriptions such as “medium-fine.”

Water Temperature

Toggle to show the water temperature field in the brew form. Useful for tracking brewing temperature for pour-over and other methods.

Beverage Weight

Toggle to track the final weight of liquid in the cup for filter brews. Used for extraction yield when set. See Brew Logging for details.

TDS & Extraction Yield

Toggle to track Total Dissolved Solids for your brews. When enabled, a TDS field appears in the brew form and Beanstats calculates the extraction yield from it.

RPM Guide

Toggle to show a visual guide for hand grinder pacing. Helps maintain consistent grind speed.

Tracking

Configure the optional tracking features. Cost tracking and currency controls live here as well.

Track Bean Costs

Toggle to show or hide price fields when adding beans. When enabled:

  • Price field appears in the bean form
  • Cost-per-gram calculations are available
  • Price tier statistics are shown

Currency

Select your currency symbol for price display:

  • $ (US Dollar)
  • € (Euro)
  • £ (British Pound)
  • ¥ (Japanese Yen)
  • ₹ (Indian Rupee)
  • C$ (Canadian Dollar)
  • A$ (Australian Dollar)
  • Fr (Swiss Franc)

Or enter a custom currency symbol.

Freeze Tracking

Toggle to enable or disable the freeze tracking feature for managing frozen coffee beans.

Water Profiles

Toggle to enable water mineral profile tracking. When enabled, a Water Profile picker appears in the brew form and brew method form, and Water appears in the More tab. See Water Profiles for details.

Caffeine Tracking

Toggle to estimate your caffeine intake per brew and save it to Apple Health. Beanstats asks for Health permission the first time you enable it, and a Caffeine Settings link appears below for setting your daily limit, your metabolism speed, and the caffeine estimates per brew method. If you decline Health sharing, the toggle turns back off and the app offers a route to review Health access. Estimates are approximate.

Caffeine Sharing

Shown when Caffeine Tracking is on. Toggle to log how many people share a brew: a Number of drinkers field appears in the home brew form, and caffeine estimates are divided by it before being saved, so only your share counts toward your intake. See Caffeine Tracking for details.

Writing NFC tags no longer needs a setting. On NFC-capable devices the option is always available, see Bean Tracking.

Notifications

Configure notification preferences for the app.

Rating Reminders

Enable notifications to remind you to rate your brews after you’ve had time to enjoy them.

SettingDescriptionDefault
Rating RemindersEnable or disable reminder notificationsOff
Remind AfterHow long to wait after brewing15 minutes

The 15-minute default applies when you have not chosen a delay yet. A delay saved in an earlier version is kept. If notification permission is denied, the toggle turns back off and offers a route to iOS Settings.

Peak Freshness Alerts

Notify you when a bean reaches its estimated peak, based on your default brewing style, rest recommendation, and freezer-adjusted age. Alerts are off by default.

See Notifications for more details.

Devices & Integrations

Scales, pressure sensors, and webhooks are grouped under Settings > Devices & Integrations.

Scales

You can pair multiple scales with Beanstats, and they will auto-connect when detected. However, only one scale can be connected at a time.

Open Settings > Devices & Integrations > Scales to:

  • View paired scales with connection status
  • Connect/disconnect scales
  • Toggle auto-connect per scale
  • Pair new scales via scanning
  • Unpair scales via swipe-to-delete

  • Connection state
  • Manual control buttons (Tare, Start/Stop Timer, Reset)

Scale Data

In Settings > Devices & Integrations > Scales > Scale Data, configure how scale samples are stored.

The internal sampling rate remains at 10Hz for real-time display. This setting only affects what’s saved to your database.

Pressure Sensors

Pair and manage a Bluetooth pressure sensor from Settings > Devices & Integrations > Pressure Sensors. See Pressure Sensor Integration.

Webhooks

Open Settings > Devices & Integrations > Webhooks to configure external endpoints. Requires Premium. See Webhooks.

Data

Import, export, and sync controls share one section.

Import

Open Settings > Data > Import:

  • Beanstats Backup restores a full backup
  • Beanconqueror imports a Beanconqueror export

See Import & Backup for the steps.

Export

Open Settings > Data > Export:

  • Full Backup creates a full backup
  • Brews Only exports home or cafe brews as JSON

See Export for brew-only exports and Import & Backup for full backups.

Sync

Settings sync automatically across your devices via iCloud:

  • Theme preference
  • Currency setting
  • Cost tracking toggle
  • Unit system
  • Archive visibility

This requires iCloud to be enabled on your device.

As of version 2.0.0, paired scale information is no longer synced via iCloud. Scales must be paired separately on each device.
